Preparation time: 25 minutes

Rice is easy once you know how. Make double and freeze half for use another day.

 

Cooking directions

  • Place rice in a saucepan. Add water.
  • Bring to boil. Stir occasionally to stop sticking to the bottom of the saucepan.

White rice:

  • Reduce heat and simmer covered with lid for 12 to 14 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stand covered with lid for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve.

Brown rice:

  • Reduce heat and simmer covered with lid for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stand covered with lid for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve.

Tip: you may need to add a little more water when simmering to stop the rice sticking to the bottom of the saucepan. Stir the rice occasionally and add water if needed.

1 cup long or medium grain rice, either brown or white rice is ok

1 1/2 cups water
