Preparation time: 10 minutes

Fast, yummy snack.  Take cold for lunch or have hot as an after-school snack.

 

Cooking directions

  • Preheat the grill in your oven to a high heat.
  • Toast the bread in the toaster until just cooked.
  • Spread toppings over the bread then sprinkle with a little cheese.
  • Put the melts under the grill until the cheese is bubbly.
  • Allow to cool.  Eat and enjoy :)

Our favourite toppings:

  • Tuna melt - spread chutney over toasted bread, top with sliced tomato, tuna and cheese, then grill.
  • Marmite/vegemite mousetrap - spread toast with marmite or vegemite, top with sliced tomato and cheese, then grill.
  • Cheese and pickle - spread toast with tomato relish, top with cheese, then grill.
  • Cheese and mushroom - top toast with sliced mushroom and cheese, then grill.
  • Creamed corn - spead tinned creamed corn over toasted bread, sprinkle with cheese, then grill.
