An easy tasty dessert. Use any canned fruit you have on hand.

 

Cooking directions

  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Drain most of the juice from the cans of apples and pears (leave a small amount behind).
  • Put apples and pears in a baking dish. Sprinkle over cinnamon and ground ginger.
  • Mix rolled oats, flour, muesli and brown sugar in a bowl. Mix in margarine. Using clean fingers is the best way to mix in the margarine. The topping will become lumpy and crumbly.
  • Sprinkle rolled oat topping over the fruit.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until crisp and golden

Try:

  • Serving with natural yogurt or custard.
  • Adding 1/2 cup walnuts to the topping.

1 can sliced apple in juice

1 can pears in juice

1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional

1 teaspoon ground ginger, optional

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup muesli

1/2 cup wholemeal flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

3 tablespoons margarine
