tips for healthy eating

Getting kids involved
The best way for your kids to learn about healthy food and how to make a simple meal is for you to show them. Getting kids involved in the kitchen helps them learn new skills and find out about new foods.
Plus, they'll be able to help you in the kitchen!
What's more, when your kids help make a meal they are more likely to try the foods they've helped prepare, so there's less risk of them wasting or rejecting new healthy foods.
- Choose a time when it's easier for you to show them, like at the weekend.
- Let your kids wash fruits and vegetables for cooking or eating.
- When shopping, let your kids choose a new fruit or vegetable to try.
- Try playing "I spy" in the produce section when shopping with younger children.
- Ask your kids to tear up the lettuce for salads and sandwiches.
- Let them measure the frozen vegetables before cooking them.
- Let your kids mash the potatoes.
