Healthy eating in the community
Tips for running a successful community project:
- Start planning early! Good planning is essential.
- Be proactive and get the media interested and involved early.
- Seek advice on working with the media. Ask Michelle at HSC or the communications advisor at your local District Health Board.
- Get community buy-in early. Involve a range of community groups – participation is key to success.
- Having a well-organised, committed group of people driving the project forward is essential.
- Keep it simple.
- Have a 'plan B'. Sometimes things don't go exactly as planned, eg it rains or someone doesn't turn up. Think about it beforehand so on the day you can put your plan B into action.
